I'm not opposed to outsourcing in all cases, but in this article, there are several very iconic American products that I really think could have benefited from staying in America and using that as part of their brand name. Especially Red Flyer, Mattel, Levi, and Etch a Sketch.

I am actually getting to the point where I really won't buy stuff made in China. I had 5 shirts from the 50% off rack at target. It probably was about $50.00 or more worth of clothes. I decided I needed to put something back, and I just happen to notice the "made in China" tag. That item went back...as did the other 4. Now I don't have any new shirts for work...but I don't care.

Now, I am not saying that I am the "conscious consumer" that people would like for everyone to be. I don't care much about other countries making our products, we can be friends with other countries , make deals with them, etc., and I don't check the label every time I buy something. BUT if there is a choice between 2 things I am going to get, I will not get the one that is made in China. And if I want something (as opposed to "need" it) and it is made in China, I won't buy it.

Why not buy from China?

("They" here refer to the Chinese government. I am sure the average citizens in china are lovely.)

-They limit childbirth to 1 child, encourage, and nearly mandate, abortions of second pregnancies, and families feel compelled to terminate pregnancies if the baby is a girl because it is important in their culture to have a male child...all of this has been leading to a culture of trafficking the small number of young women that their country does have.
-They sensor the internet for their entire country (I am SO glad google stopped working with them) because they don't trust their people with knowledge and they want to control them
-They have lied about making scientific breakthroughs on numerous occasions
-They openly persecute Christians
-They didn't let people who were mentally ill into their country for the Olympics.
-They, in addition to censoring the internet, purposefully withhold the history of the country if the government did something negative seeming.
-People just disappear there (like officials who speak out against the government)
-They allow massive human rights violations (no standards for workers or not enforcing the standards they have)

It goes on...

I just can't support that.

OK, now I've moved on from "first" to "favorites, interesting things about cassidy, and other pictures I like"

This is Cassidy being COMPLETELY fascinated by her Daddy like she always is and has been! These are two modified "Eaty" faces. She used to make them very distinctly with both hands by her face, palms out, fingers spread.

This is from the set of our first family pictures we took. Its not the best one, but I couldn't tell from the thumbnails which was the best, and I am more concerned with posting SOMETHING than posting the best ^_^. She was exactly 2 weeks old here.

I was going to just post about Cassidy and my lovely morning. But my laptop memory is way low so I can't download the pictures from today. So instead I will post a brief history of Cassidy, which would be better done if I had my baby calendar with me to remember the timeline of events, but oh well!

Here are some of Cassidy's firsts (I will not put "first time meeting..." cause that would take forever! Se has me almost everyone in both our families!)

First day being alive! First day meeting us. Also her first thunderstorm and her first tornado watch.

First walk down to the St. George city limit sign and back. This is when we were still trying to get rid of her Jaundice so she was totally in the sun.

First non-hospital related outing (a little over a week old, I believe). We went to Olive Garden (our first time there since it opened), Target, and Walmart.

First hike at the Konza prarie (around 2 weeks old). Don't worry, she had a cover over her head the whole time so she didn't get sunburned. CHris carried her in the front-pack the whole way.

OK, so I'll do this in two posts....this can be part 2.

This is Chris and I at the baby shower that Tiya threw me at work! It was very fun, a LOT of people came. I got to see a lot of pople I haven't seen in a while from Stone House.

Here is my Tummy at week 35. Tomorrow is week 36! Two weekends ago we went to Newborn Basics class (it was OK, but not a lot of new info. But we finally got a tour of the maternity ward since the H1N1 resrictions were limited) and then went to see Julia and Pickle and Autumn and later Newgen and Andrea.

The weekend BEFORE that was Chris' birthday! Here he is opening his new rice steamer!

And then on that Saturday we had the alumni game, but I didn't get to play on account of the baby in my tummy...

Every thing is going great! Today is week 32! My doctor said all my blood work and everything looks great. I am way excited!!!! Here is a picture from today! It gives you an idea of the size of my tummy. ^_^ ...ok, you have to see this other one to get the full effect...

Really haven't had a lot of "later pregnancy" symptoms yet. I feel generally really good! It is getting harder and harder and harder to tie my shoes and put lotion on my legs ^_^.

Two posts down or so is a picture of my boss with a radioactive shirt on. It has a little one on the front and a HUGE one on the back. No text, just the symbol. He had it made. Why? Because he is radioactive! No, really! He has cancer and got it treated by having little mini rods injected into the cancer that are radioactive. He isn't supposed to be within 10 feet of me (or any other pregnant ladies or young children) more than a minute or two. So now the 4 of us have staff meetings at a very long conference table and Larry and I sit at opposite ends.

It only lasts for 6 weeks (the radiation eminating from him, I mean). Crazy!

OK, OK, it is far to hard to write a blog post in gender natural terms when I know the gender.... I was going to save ti to the end, but.... Wiggles is a GIRL!!!

Ok, So I got these Sonogram pictures at about 21 weeks (on 12/29/2009). I am now 23 1/2 weeks along...

So here is what I looked like then:

(I have other cuter pictures of me pregnant at this time, but this one shows you the size of my tummy most accurately.)

And here is what Wiggles looked like (14 oz.):

This is Wiggles smiling. The words, from let to right (since they are too small to read) are "hand" "nose" "smile" "foot" and "she's curled up like this" and a little drawing of a stick baby all curled up)...

OK, for some reason blogger rotated this image....I don't know why... But this is Wiggles keeping her legs crossed (FOR THE ENTIRE SONOGRAM!!!). The sonogram technician waited so long that she finally said, "Well, it may just have to be a surprise". Then she stalled for a bit longer. (Words from top to bottom are "Feet" "Ankles crossed" "knee" "knee".

These are her feet (So CUTE!!!). Toes to the left. The words are "toes" with a bunch of arrows, "(ankles still crossed)", and "heels".

And this one is the one where we finally found out she was a girl...It is an odd angle. Basically her bottom is in the bottom right of the picture and her right thigh is going off into the distance back over the top of her toward the top left. There are two white bumps. Those are her female parts.

I have a few more. Maybe if I can get our scanner to work I will e-mail them out.

And this is what my belly button looked like then. Most of you probably have no point of reference, but I had a pretty distinct "innie"... now its pretty much out... And I still have 4 1/2 months to go in all these picts!

Also, If you didn't already hear, I am pregnant! I am 13 weeks along as of yesterday. Wanna see a baby picture? It was very wiggly when we got to see it and it waved at us ^_^. That was WAY back three weeks ago when it was about 1 1/2 inches. Now is is the size of a peach. My first REAL doctor appointment is tomorrow.

In other news, today is the first day in MONTHS that I walked out of walmart, smelled sonic, and didn't nearly puke!!! Horray! Perhaps it is the dawning of a new, less miserable time!

Nice to chat with you all. Perhaps I will put my recent baby dream on my dream blog.
